First Time in Paris: How to Prioritize Your Days
A practical first-visit framework for choosing what deserves your time, what to reserve and how to keep the days realistic.
A strong first trip is a sequence of good decisions, not a race through every famous address. Use this edit to protect the experiences that matter and leave room for the city itself.
Start with the anchors
Louvre Museum
The Louvre rewards a defined route through a small part of the collection. Allow: 3-4 hours.
Eiffel Tower and Champ de Mars
The landmark is worth seeing; going up is worthwhile when the view and engineering matter to you. Allow: 2-3 hours.
Île de la Cité and the Historic Center
The river islands give Paris historical orientation and connect naturally to both banks. Allow: 2-4 hours.
Musée d’Orsay
A focused collection and dramatic building make it a strong alternative or complement to the Louvre. Allow: 2-3 hours.
Montmartre Beyond Sacré-Cœur
Hills, streets and artistic history reward a route that goes beyond the busiest summit. Allow: 2-3 hours.
How many days?
Four days gives the major art and monument anchors, river walks, and two neighborhood-focused blocks. is the current CityMustDo planning range. Group places by geography, limit each day to one demanding anchor, and keep a flexible block for weather, energy or a discovery you did not plan.
